Vision Statement
At Portsmouth Christian Schools, we desire every student to accept Christ as their Savior and enter into a personal relationship with the Lord. We are committed to fostering our students’ growth in their Biblical worldview, Christian character, stewardship, and academics.
SCHOOL HISTORY
Portsmouth Christian Schools grew out of the vision and convictions of pastor T. M. Frye and the members of Biltmore Baptist Church, that the Portsmouth area should have a private Christian Day School, with high quality academic education founded on Biblical principles and a Christian philosophy of life.
Biltmore Baptist Church did not have the educational facilities back in 1964 that would properly house a Christian School, therefore pastor Frye and the membership of Biltmore Baptist Church, led by God to start the School, voted to remodel its facilities in order to start Portsmouth Christian Schools.
Portsmouth Christian Schools is church related and works cooperatively with families of other churches who seek a Christian education for their children. Portsmouth Christian School was started in 1965 with two teachers and 27 students. One grade was added each year and Portsmouth Christian graduated their first class in June, 1977.
Biltmore Baptist Church has purchased property and built or added facilities as they were needed for growth of the Church and School and as the Lord blessed with the finances.
