Service
Following the example of Jesus, Portsmouth Christian places a strong emphasis on service. We give our students opportunities to serve in various service projects, our elementary can-do clubs, student-student tutoring, and peer mentoring.
PROJECTS
Throughout the school year, we make ourselves available for volunteer/service opportunities. We have been “Santa” to children in need, collecting food for the food pantry, and school grounds beautification to mention a few. We also practice Random Acts of Kindness while visiting DC. Each year brings new ideas and needs.
CAN DO CLUB
Can Do Club is an outreach ministry for grades 3-5. The mission statement is to “Do all the good you can, by all the means you can, in all the ways you can, in all the places you can, at all the times you can, to all the people you can, as long as ever you can” (John Wesley). Individual clubs meet after school for nine weeks each semester to prepare for a performance in an area nursing home. Sign language, choir, chimes, art and drama are examples of the kinds of clubs available. Our desire is to train students to serve God and others through the talents He has bestowed upon them.
